Suicidal Empathy

This adjustment should not be a surprise to any thinking person because the slack old hopefuls and dilatants are always at risk of dreaming as a consequence of their comfortable new rich incumbencies. The tax takers are in majority and it's the tax takers who want things to keep going their ways.  The poor need not be left out because the really big tax takers have lost.  You can justify anything with good intention, but if it's just talk and nothing that works (like dependency and jobs not careers, experimentation without precision and discipline) it's out the door, and rightly so.

And yes, as Ferguson points out so well, Trump's ascendancy is risky because we are always at war . And whether it's a hot war inside or a cold war outside , we can still achieve things if we are open and not stupid, but alert and vigilant.  

Many of the new hopefuls come with concrete real world visons, and real world science in practice . This is a needed push back against the deadening dependencies ( and cynicism)  of recent decades; too much half baked untested incompetence and experimentation that does nothing to enliven the minds and hearts and actions of our young people .that failure to launch is in itself a very serious failure of my generation.
 
These strong reality checks have come before, and are needed to stop idealism, inexperience, patronizing and down right incompetence and fear from substituting for real world science learning , mentoring and inspiration. There are too many degrees and incentives offered and not enough on ground learning and the discipline of mentoring ....and our  Regions know this; The country is being starved 
We will not get competency through the screen. The key Conservation that works will not come with tyrants parenting us in oikonomia  or with  rough reactionary wannabe ideas of bullying or incentivizing.  Our resource rich and creative young people need inspiration .

The wrong people are making all the noise

Stamping your foot, making a lot of noise and self righteous anger are not going to cut it -- especially with thinking experienced people

The mad collection of immature noise makers all around us at the moment , should, I suggest, remind us that all candidates standing for election need to be more rigorously tested for their commitment to really listen to  local and experienced people.  

There have never been so many starry eyed meeting members who just want the glory of office, and who by quitting once they become Mayor, or whatever , show they lack eldership, and  responsibility, let alone any real willingness to face their own inability to make tough real world decisions and not get distracted in huge reams of consultant reports. 

A term of office on our Council ( or Parliament ) is not going to change the atmosphere of the earth, and by trying to do that by long loud appeals and pushing, you will only  annoy those of us who know much better ways of getting things done  than just following the paper and popular political noisemakers trail.

Humility and application to common household tasks ( see JB Peterson)  goes a long way to develop the sort of competence we all want to see in candidates. .

Perhaps you, the reader, if you have time to really listen and have business experience, should stand?

After all, if you already listen and want to change your district for the better, there are plenty of people not only willing, but very  able to help you.

They are the sort of wonderful people all around  you who not only have successfully contributed their own resources in a patch, but know how to make those things work well.

The Progressives are in trouble

 How we see the world as a whole is far more important than most mere facts we are ever faced with about its details. Our worldview constrains our attitude to almost everything ,which means we protect it with our lives and minds.

Progressives when they have a problem when things don't work , can be boyed up to the top of the froth and bubble by a mere something that looks positive----It doesn't matter that its only part of the light - its good enough for today.   Looking for something positive and ignoring the negatives highlights their fast moving with the froth nature and the frustration you would have trying to live with one.

We mostly interpret facts in the " light " of our world view . Our Faith therefore trumps reason .  
The problem with progressives ( as Chesterton so well pointed out ) is at least two fold 

1. It's based on reaction and therefore has no substance. 
2. It doesn't work and it won't work when the source of optimism in progress ( eg technology ) goes .eg when we have no technology to fix a perceived problem 

Conservatives (Established ) do not need to worry as Progressives ( Reactionaries ) do because 

1. Established values have resilience history  ; more reasoned tested and manageable worries  
2. Reactionary  worries may have no history in reason or practice 
3. Reactionary worries may just reflect the above confusion  eg letting illogical worries about  [CO2] when the cost of liquid fuels will have profound impact on the economy if greed in there use continues. A worry , but a more reasoned and manageable worry  
4. A false fear is a very scary thing . esp if practical scientists and ecologists see the problems and solutions in a more concrete and manageable form 
5. A false fear combined with a extra terrestrial solution ( changing the atmosphere) is something noone can face for too long. 
6. Denial is the progressives end game . not the resilience and realist experts game .  The established have a base and they know where to keep building when bits of it are eroded .

What I hope our children will reject from our past

Behind my generations overreactions are feelings of guilt and impotence

Please help our children have the future they deserve and stop trying to change the world in the instant before we die . Lets go instead to confession. 

This depressing state of affairs with the elderly is probably not new, but like most blinkeredness ,the blinkers are self imposed  and any insight and the needed hope requires honoring and honesty to stop it festering.
 We have failed and need to go to confession, not  more debt in the name of old technology ( like windmills and batteries) and faith in things that don't work ( like Hydrogen) 
 For God's sake give our children freedom from our guilt both imagined , feared and real .

Let our children discover ways to overcome our depletion of fossil fuels ; mainly because we are just wasting money now in desperate and foolish dreaming attempts trying: and because there are ways to regenerate alkanes and not demonize them as agents of evil only. ( but you don't know that yet  because the last practical environmental chemist has left the building  ) 

 Take the very desperate attempt of the Andrew government THIS WEEK  to shore up its confidence over its complete incompetence by targeting the timber industry.

Thinking people can see the sustainability in the strong tested form of parliament that allows proper representation by area and numbers. Sound carers also see the absolute wokeness and stupidity of allowing a family to be dictated on anger noise level by someone whose genuine CURRENT grievances should continue to be heard in the proper context of calm sustainable FORMS of conversational court.( that don't try to add weight by adjusting the noise level - a very immature and unhelpful idea

God has 2 have a sense of humor

 I mean look at all the sheep in Parliament who are bewitched by the pathetic portents of public opinion . They fly off here and there to solve the problems of this worldl.Most of them couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery . 
 I wouldn't mind if they knew what they were doing but they got on the plane  by  agreeing that the Public do know what they are doing - Clearly they don't know what they are doing to find energy sources other than fossil fuels -- only fools would force us to the hell of a fixed jail term-- a simple 43% solution. Public opinion is as fickle as the  hot air they hope to manage. 

So if God has a sense of humor and justice, how is He going to break the spell ?  Maybe like us old parents , he gets to the point of saying" let them wear their own" .    

I know God has   a sense of humor      and many other things because , miracle of miracles  the tributes to Queen Elizabeth by our leaders TODAY was exceptional and because humble pie awaits us all .

If you keep going on about HOW hard done by woman are and use the growing level of domestic violence against women as your excuse,   you  will go nowhere:
To deny the increasing isolation of women and NOT accept  that your choice of free sex is a recipe for increasing the  risk of all sort s of violence in every home is to end up being even more fanatical and in denial than you are now .

I was at a meeting last night that has been banned from Facebook ( many many times ) and its members shot at and  deregistered from their professions .
No  we weren't  all anti-vaxxers and  conspiracy theorists,  but  we were proudly symbols of the many  people who don't accept the political rhetoric of the moment . 

What a wonderfully lively and freeing community it was,  and the leaders hold similar meetings across the country they represent a large component of the thinking electorate -- that are now actively silenced.
What worries the already worried fanatics in power is that groups like this across the country  have a unity  - a unity not of mind and purpose or even action , but a renewed unity in the only thing that really matters - freedom of speech and individual action . 

As all people should note,  governments and their hangers on only pretend to be unified and their life cannot last. 

On the same day I also went to another big meeting of people rejecting the current political rhetoric . a  farmers meeting who were not there in the square to play politics, but to call for specific actions to limits the risk of disease entry into Australia  from Indonesia.
Farmers don't know everything, but they have seen the Luddite Labor Ludwig  solve a problem he didn't understand, let alone anticipate ; which is what you must do if you want to keep your farm.
Ludwig was yet another  unqualified unbusinesslike type who  killed the cattle industry without even thinking about it.. And as everyone at both meeting knows , the city , in a fit of peak could still do the same . 
All both groups and all those hundreds of thousands of farmers  who are too busy sorting out fluids in the mud all day want is (  as Jeremy Clarkson shows in Clarkson farm ) for the incumbents to absolutely stop pretending they know what they are doing to change the world.
Clearly their fanatical attempts to resist freedom of speech first , the basic actions of living now and great forays into foreign territories will soon come unstuck.  

A pox on both major parties

 I weep for our children because they do not have the prospect of a home,  while my generation  have two. 

I weep for our children because our forefathers worked to offer us careers in science ; not just jobs, because it takes a lifetime to master a science area.  We don't work with each other but for ourselves.

Neither party is grieved that our kids work is casualized and corrupted  ( for some short term goal)  The pox is on them because they all do it in the name of the market god.
Is there any lame brain in Parliament who doesn't worship the market and the slow consultants and corrupted contract system it has created .
It is of course foul mouthed ignorance and hypocrisy to talk of the need for another ICAC when any former public servant knows polys create the worst corruption every day by insisting they know things ;running  their very own incompetent crap as truth .
I weep for that great  mass of mere reactionaries who can talk about problems after the horse has bolted . We were trained to be planners , prevention agents,adn risk takers   not driven about by the wind and by the destructive but pathetically weak whims of the demon of "the precautionary principle". You have heard of mutton dressed up as lamb . The PC way is political laziness and system abuse,  it is fear dressed up to cover ignorance and ongoing incompetence . Find out you lazy buggers in the Emperors castle and take a risk like constituents have to.   

I weep at the numbers of  the blatant arrogant  me generation persons who dare to call associations bad and themselves independently brilliant ;  when interindependancy ( and standing together with those you don't always agree with --an alliance for a specific purpose)  is essential in a democracy and society. No-one knows what many of them stand for ; they haven't made up their minds : stated precision in decision  used to be a reason you would vote for someone and still should be .  Even Labor don't state what they would use their latest carbon tax for : this hypocritical group deceitfully play down the fact that they don't know what they will do till they get there . they say they are working to get more climate change action" , Such actions which shall remain undefined lest people call them undecided about anything involving real decisions that affect people.  

I weep for our children because they,  like us, need hope  to drive them and live ( That great life lesson -short term loss for long term gain does not come from the markets nonsense that you must have it NOW  ) ;
So poorly educated in gain and pain  they are deceived, confused and yet keen to see change .  Our young people may well vote in the May 22 election for electric everything,  when they could well have no power to keep it running. The short term gain of hope in a new energy source will not be possible because the long term planning for it, is as dreamy as the hot air they and the media have got caught up in . Does anyone on the left dare to take openly about energy choices for the next 20 /200 years? 

I weep for my generation because they pretend we have lost power to the gods of the market when it was always within our power and wealth to not be so compliant to crude cut throat economics. Lost is a term for those who feel stuck but simply don't know a way out .They compound their confusion by worrying about the time ( probably still 200 years away ) when we will run out of fossil fuels and allowing some allied fear like Climate change compound all the rest they have . 

I weep for my own generation now in 2022 that they insist we change the earth's environment before fixing up our own. 

I weep for my  generation because, while we are rich, our children are poor, and we could have done something about it.

I weep for my own rich generation because we have failed to pass on what we inherited ; a choice to give good work and a sound economy to our children.

Despite most leaders worshiping at the church of the rational solution ( CRS), God seems to have had his way . This old heresy that you only can know and be god is just not working .

That in an age which also worships technology that means that CRS is about to be thrown on the scrap heap  ( you heard it first at the Emperors academy ) This fanatical phenomena  is also clear evidence that the cracks are appearing .  Hold fast .

For those of us whose faith is bigger,  the great effort to prove the powerful right can  be a good thing--- it will fail .  but we also know from history that human beings aren't very rational creatures and destruction of the edifice  may not be productive -- just another challenge to return to truth telling before some new named worry takes the attention seekers focus   .
 It seems humans are often at their very worst when they convince themselves they are completely rational.  


There has never been , to my mind,  in my lifetime as an effective risk management ecologist,  less rational discussion leading to rational consensus .A paradox  for that dying group who claim we can rationalize our way out of everything. 
The posts on my blogs all speak of  a growing frustration of the mind ( over nearly now 20 years ) which eventually insists on "shoving it up the opposing phrase " ( cause that it all it is often ) 
What ever happened to certainty? What ever happened to scientific literacy 

With their new friends on the extreme edges these old cynics promote anything but a discussion in science but Ad Hominem on the spokesman.

The most concrete reality for me (in a strange paradox ) is that I as a scientist ( an earth scientist no less) claim to have the physics and chemistry very firmly on my side and ...
They as scientifically illiterates ( couldn't put 20 pages of Ads for net zero in November to work for them) claim to have science ( esp earth science) on their side  . Whitehead and Ellul all predicted this terrible day nearly one hundred years ago.       Flying blind

The extent of the problem     take Global Warming and much of the catastrophic chatter for example 
Its extremely weird that ALL  these old scientifically illiterate desperadoes of OUR AGE (on both the left and right ) should on masse go woke and completely ignore that decarbonization is mad. - it is a false heaven  death wish, as applied scientists all know .

Relieve yourself from worry about Global warming . Leaves  have stoma and for eons they remind us that the earth is starving for CO2.

These people running a net zero campaign  have lost their minds; they not only want to create heaven on earth before they die,  they are,  in the spirit of their own self righteousness,  going to make our children pay for it . And it would be hell if they ever got what they wanted.

Worry yourself silly about the use of nuclear power, the end of the world and the time when  fossil fuels will be  replaced by fuel made from algae; It is your choice.
  Don't worry anymore about global warming because Mr Albanese has envisaged a new plug in power source that will stop the droughts and calm the storms , He doesn't really know what it looks like, so he has given himself till 2050 to find out ,Josh ! He is  unfortunately not the only dreamer with his head in the sand over possible targets, (see below)

Before you too go back to join the scientifically incompetent cynical misanthropes, let me remind you that there was a time when we listened to each other; when we respected years of mentored study and training. True respect for science can mean we can  still offer great work for our children and stop dithering and playing dilettante. 
What is not responsible is if we go around quoting someone else; some meddling modeller who muddies the water and never makes any real decisions on all the risks involved . As a risk evaluator, I have to state the risk or lose my job and my credibility

Aim HIGH - but don't fall flat on your face

  One day all these people who have never achieved anything in this world will be know by their proper name. Zeroers .

They aim at zero , they seek zero, and they know zero .
Now this is not due to the number of facts they can list  ,but rather their failure to link facts - they list too many ,AND  in no proper order.
They aren't good at measuring and being measured - they failed science practical 
 To really keep their sense of their own order ( false ) they write their own rules.

Anyway we know the sort 
So why in a world which WORKS by having the dialectic  of  competitive and cooperative by nature do they insist on the zero target ? 
like zero Covid cases   or zero emissions or zero growth .
--They are so heavenly minded they are of no earthly use - as religious as they come 
--They are purists ( cf practical ) and  idealists with only one thing in mind .
--They use language to win,  not to use it to make sense
No one can beat their high target ---  their pedantic word /number for no evil .

As potential tyrants  they know that no one can beat them for being so self righteous and truly religious about things far more complex that they understand...

Do they ever ask why zero brings zero questions or comebacks  - its the perfect number for some.   to loo

What they do  know is the value of impressions and going in hard and fast means they are the first to move the lever of change
