Small is beautiful

I used to work for an organisation that got things done by co-opting people it thought would help resolve things in a practical down to earth way - onsite. It was the best .
 Many managers have the good sense to know the idea but are stymied because of the heirachy of organisation they work in .

• The bigger they are the worse they often are .
• The bigger the problems the organisation tries to work on the higher the risk of failure - the big problems are only human and the real problems ( human) only grow with more human elements esp fixed and title ones.
• Wannbes are always creating new organisations mega departments - worst idea ever 

I could do my job because the organisation I worked for was small . "You work for SCA - well what would you know ".
That little organisation modeled environmental planning in Victoria like none since . If you are tempted to start a mega department or committee you would do well to study its modus operandi. 

If wannabes are going to preach--- they must bring heaven back to earth, or be dismissed

In a paradox of profound proportions today's new religious left are going to try to drag us through their endless purgatory of carbon bashing by focusing on the world beyond . Will it work on Q and A tonight ? .Probably not - the producers are trying to control something they don't understand . Time our polys told them to properly let scientists speak . The wonder of the universe is indeed wonderful with wonder increasing with each new view, but to deal with wicked real local world problems we need focus.
Most of us have been waiting for our public broadcaster to stand aside and let the scientists fight CC out in front of us ( I have asked for it heaps of times ).Never happened in 2 decades on non debate.  . It even looked like it was going to happen tonite but its closed shop The same old same old echo chamber as usual

 Even with  the profound rebuke of the last election the worry warrior politicians  within the ABC ( is this right???) select the panel, the questions and largely control the outcome . ho hum  zero sum game

Even when a  bomb goes off , there is usually enough scorn and cynicism sprayed on by the ruling class to keep limpet like ABC audiences from switching off .
But switching off the thinking ones are and have been - the country is watching Sky news  and if you think that means we are stupid you are being regionalist and you would be wrong .
Sustainability issues 
Most importantly,  the only religions that last , offer a sense of freedom and a future that works . Not one that is pie in the sky . where the heroes  talk of batteries w e haven't got yet , a world we can't control .  Worse a worship type world which requires us to sacrifice ourselves like Jesus ( but no lasting personal reward ) as a token to solve the climate crisis.   No sale .

So whatever happened to the Climate Catastrophe?

ABCTV's Tony organised it so all the heavies would be there,  but somehow - all the angst about
the impending climate catastrophe went off like one big fizzer on last nights Q and A 
The asteroid may have hit , but noone felt it
Maybe it was just guilt passing by , as Bauerlein is saying
Who in their right mind would allow any of that  confused and confusing panel of wannabes to rule.
More pain is clear,  but for what Gain is definitely not clear. 
The whole thing seems to be just a lot of hot air . Nothing new in the offering by the worried parties 

Nothing at all from the Opposition Coalition .

If Labor gets in,  it will be on the basis of deception,  deceiving the people. Worse, Labor and the Greens ( the most unstable and unpredictable coalition in Australia's history ) will use that hot air to waste another ten years taxing us more to just hand out  solar panels for middle class roofs ( and stupidly-- as the Greens do on their site)




What irrational rhetoric allows these DIMWITS to proclaim such incompetent , unjust  and ineffective meddling.   Great evil done in the name of the best intention . 

Not even a prod from Tony about the reef gave Richard more than goosebumps
The Greens went to water with Tanya and Helen following on.
Richard was desperate enough to avoid the reef , but made the worse mistake of mentioning another Green labor fiasco ,. The MD plan ;

Tanya ,Burke and Richard might be better to go back to worrying about the reef , or protection plans for warming or rising water    Take another 6 years and develop a plan . No just confess you don't know what you are doing and find something more productive to do . 

I am not as smart as I think i am .

When I forget that,  I observe how others get carried away with their wisdom , abilities and power.
When I forget that,  I note that there are none so blind as them that will not see .
And when I forget all of that . I might be tempted to pray that  I be shown a few things to help me out of the pit.

Progressives are in trouble - nothings progressing

The biggest group of optimists in politics ( all parties have them) are in trouble because their  expectation that  the revolution will just come with time is not proving to be correct .
The biggest nonsense progressives promote is that politics is powerful.

Progressives believe that if you have the right govt and the right amount of money the world will be supremely blessed. No more grace alone , faith alone ( incl education ) just process alone ,

As with the lazy Fabians the simple idea of a natural evolution beats the old tough idea of constant vigilance.  The simple idea of  natural evolution suits all those who want an excuse to do nothing - and thats a lot of people in our failing( not believed in - take both young and old) democracies


So progressives from all parties don't get that now taxes hit 45 % of  income there is no more room to run their saviuors line.
Nowhere is this nonsense more evident at the moment than in the accepted rhetoric of Hilary Clinton

This is exactly why the left is on the nose. They offer sweets but the sweet taste does't last because the sugar supply is all one way .

They think they are gods, but don't have answers ; they think experimenting works .
If you don't have a solution or understand the connections you don't  know that the next experiment is likely to work . 
.....and a new house full of hopefuls will only speed up the progress towards the next wall.

Before I make a suggestion , because I don't think the motivation of our reps who will support this is very deep, I draw your attention to a amazing Boyer lecture on Politics given by John Passmore.
In that series John reminds us that Politicians seldom admit that one of their biggest frustrations is "that they simply don't know what to do ".
If what he said in 1978 was true  it would take something world shattering to get the sort of consensus we have at this moment on 29th November 2017 amongst the parties .
Both bills have great historic significance
Both bills reject long held views on cultural norms ,
And despite the huge historic significance those who have got over the line seem to think they no longer have to listen to those who have difficulty with this simplicity

, and most importantly old prohibitions have been condemned as backward
Old prohibitions have been condemned as backward.   This strong attitude ( not often openly stated )may well set the scene for the attacks on Christians and others who disagree with the adoption of the principles on these Acts

MY suggestion  That there is no criticism  of politicians that motivates s the minds of those people across parties than the one that they could be backward in the ir thinking .
In a predictable way its the idea of evolution and progress that overcomes the sound inertia that normally keeps Parliament revises the old ways that they are no so happy to reject. I welcome anyone challenging me to say that  the motivation goes deeper than that .

After all, will their assertion  that be Old prohibitions must be  condemned as backwardor just as before the need for the old prohibition against suicide and clear definitions of marriage and why its important to frame it well ( risk of children)

My summary 
Progressives have the joy of being cynical about all those" living in the past" and the freedom to not really think deeply about the future because they think it will be better automatically

That's why its easy for all parties to get up and dance this week - they believe in evolution

in other words nothing is more potent at dinner than a device which lubricates the friction filled wheels of progress.  The fact that automatic faith in progress more the  poison of the modern west than any other religion was in the same period  is not accepted - the waste has yet to be seen yet alone calculated .In seeing real progress they have forgotten about the wolf .

Somehow the leading parties in Australia are agreed on how to change the world - well for one group anyway.   How clever and they all agree .They must be on drugs .Acts without ammendments.  surveys with more significance than a single sentence of common sense.
What a bunch of new age mind game believers they all are.Words of course are clearly losing value but that's another matter.
 In Victoria it's the same . The pain of those waiting to die will be over .  The onlookers are going to make it easier .They will help you die quicker and that will be for the relief .......of everyone watching

And of course,  the well wishers are having a good cynical laugh ( that's sort of how they respond now) at those who say" it is just quick fix "for them and then slow death for real caring for all.
Faith in progress does this . You don't have to learn the detail from the past or worry about the future - its the perfect religion for the new consumer age - its demands create growth.What else matters?
The loud minority wins and the wannabes are happy . Going on past performance the happiness won't last because we have eroded both the sense of centre and the boundaries of what works for the good of all .

And what so special about Christmas? It one time when we are all happy -or we are supposed  to be.
Until we realize that we have not been reconciled to each other - just mad decisions about the  others interests without really talking about it to them directly .

Its all going to happen by Christmas -No its not . It will just be made to appear that way . Like empty Christmas rhetoric its enough to make normal people wanna commit suicide afterwards.
